The Team

Michael Shinn

Chief Executive Officer/Chief Turtle Wrangler

Michael is an accomplished executive and entrepreneur with over 20 years of professional experience in business operations, regulation and technology with sub-specialties in risk management, regulatory affairs, security services and technology development.  He's a founder of Plesk, and formerly worked for Cisco Systems as a research scientist, and the White House as a computer security and forensics analyst

He's the co-Author of several federal publications, including Regulatory Guide 5.71, "CYBER SECURITY PROGRAMS FOR NUCLEAR FACILITIES", and an upcoming NUREG on Nuclear Security Controls. He also co-wrote "Troubleshooting Linux Firewalls" with Atomicorp's CTO, Scott Shinn.  Michael is a nine year veteran of the US Army, having served in the Infantry back when Ronald Reagan was President.

He's our old man, every company needs an old guy to look professional.  His wife tells us we're doing a nice job giving him gray hair so he can also look the part, now if he would just stop cutting it all off.

Scott Shinn

Chief Technical Officer/ Digital Turtlist

Scott is an renowned expert in cloud, virtualization and shared computing security.  He is also a founder of Plesk, and was a team leader and senior hacker at the Wheel Group. Scott's the force behind many of our products, and works tirelessly on them when hes not making wine (no kidding he's also a wine maker!).

Like our CEO Michael, Scott previously worked as a research scientist at Cisco Systems, and also worked at the White House as the chief network manager, where he built and ran the network management system for entire White House.  He also co-wrote "Troubleshooting Linux Firewalls" with the company's CEO, Michael Shinn.

Casey Priester

Vice President of Operations/HMIC of cat herding

Casey has over 15 years of experience in Cyber Security.  He leads our consulting teams and is an expert in all things Windows, and penetration testing. He's the co-Author of  an upcoming NUREG on Nuclear Security Controls that was co-written with Atomicorp's CEO and CTO.

He holds numerous certifications, including some interesting ones from the NSA.  His office also has a nice view, of those certificates, and the outside world too.  But the view of those NSA certificates is mesmerizing.

Jim Godwin

GUI Lead Developer/HMIC Shiny Turtle Shells

Jim has over 12 years of professional experience in software development and is in charge of GUI development for our products.  He spends his free time making browsers do precisely the opposite of what he intended for them to do.  Jim likes long walks on the beach, and hates mean people.

Bob Huffman

Senior Cybersecurity Engineer/"Evil Bob"

Bob has been working in cyber security for decades, and is an expert at breaking things.  Bob makes sure our products can keep the bad guys out.  Bob likes long walks on the beach, and hates mean people.

Ben Tharp

Cyber Security Engineer/HMIC of vehicle modifications

Ben has over 8 years of experience in Cyber Security.  He works closely with our government customers, and is both a Certifier and ISSO for several very sensitive agencies. When hes not testing systems for vulnerabilities, and generally helping our government customers to sleep at night, he spends his time doing amazing stuff to his car.  Its a shame our offices are so close to the airport, or we swear he'd make it fly.

Ben Simmons

Cyber Security Engineer/Parking Enforcer/Graphics Extraordinaire

Ben is part of our support team and has been hacking computers since he was a teenager. He's the kind-ish voice on the other end of the phone, but spends his free time working on new ways to hack and defend computers where he's not so kind to the machines.

When Ben's not drawing humiliating pictures of us in Photoshop, and posting them around the office (a hobby we routinely have to beat him for), he's making the graphics that Jim then applies to our web interfaces.  He also takes great pleasure in ensuring our assigned spots are not parked in, and can occasionally be heard crying out "YOUR TEARS SUSTAIN ME!!!", as well as very creepy maniacal laughter when he gets a successful tow.

In his spare time, he's developing the game "Project Genesis", an MMORPG. Ben spent 6 years in the US Army in the Infantry, and served in Iraq. He's also reported to be Dolphin safe, though, reportedly, that is unconfirmed.  Raised by wolves, he often wanders off into the forests of Northern Virginia in search of his wolf brethren to commune with.  He also likes to consume all of the wine that Scott makes.

Karen Shinn

Chief Financial Officer/HWIC Turtle resources

Karen is an experienced executive and entrepreneur with decades of experience.  She is an experienced Financial officer, as well as the President of KTI, Inc.  She served as the CFO of several of our founders previous start ups which were successfully acquired.  She's a graduate of Florida State University, owns an awesome boat, and holds a very high level security clearance, shhhh!

Tara Leah Shinn

Office Manager/HWIC of wrangling the boys

Tara has been working with us since we started the company, and besides being the most highly educated person in the company, she makes sure things run smoothly around here.  Tara speaks multiple languages, including Spanish, Norwegian, French, Hebrew and Klingon.  One of those is a joke, we're not sure which one, we don't understand any of them well enough to know whats she's saying.  Shes also the director of Quality Assurance for our parent company, Prometheus Global.

Toki

Support Samoyed/ HMIC bucket truck security and general dog stuff

Toki is in charge of bucket truck security and de-stuffing plushies.  He's also a Samoyed, and we're told by his people that this also means he's really good at things involving snow.  We can't speak to this because snow is a just vicious rumor in Chantilly, VA and we do not believe it exists.

Misty

Support Persian/ HWIC executive morale/Assistant Bartender

Misty is in charge of ensuring the laws of gravity are respected.  When she isn't keeping things pinned down so they don't fly away into space, she's in charge of reminding us when its time to stop working and head to the Tiki Bar.  This takes some effort on her part, but she's very dedicated to her job and never ever gives up on the Tiki bar.
