How much work would it be to integrate ASL with another hosting management platform such as ispconfig or Webmin?

I'm really starting to get annoyed with Plesk: Plesk branding visible to customers, postfix4ever, broken releases, etc. The borked domainkeys implementation is what really pushed me over the edge. How long should it take to fix something like that? A week?!? Was there testing done? I personally doubt it, or forwarding DK signed messages would have been caught.

I guess I'm blowing off steam since I already pay the Plesk tax, but this might be a way for ASL to increase market share.

Its doable, probably webmin would be the easiest, since it uses what the vendor distributes. Odds are ASL will work with webmin right now.

What throws us a curve ball is when someone tries to be clever and re-implements things in non-standard places. Ive never looked at ispconfig, but I know Corey from Ravencore (www.ravencore.com) and Tim from GNUpanel (www.gnupanel.org), so those are high on the list.

Cpanel is up there on the list too, but obviously since they re-implemented everything it makes it harder to integrate. Basically we'll have to for ASL for that.

Do you think cPanel or other panels does not make the same mistakes as Parralles is doing right now with for example the DK? I do not think so, I would stick with Plesk for a while till ASL 3.0 and then look at other panels.

Oh, I don't doubt it. However, a lot of these "issues" wouldn't be issues if the system wasn't locked up to the point where we are totally dependent on parallels tech support to fix anything that crops up. I'm not even going to go into the quality issues inherent in closed systems, nor the branding that has become more obvious in the last few releases.

I'm keeping an eye on the development of OpenPanel. They also have a blog.
