the atomic-accelerator (nginx) package works with plesk 9.3.x, it should handle automatically managing the configs on the system.

8.6 doesnt support it, so you'd have to write your own wrapper for rebuilding the config files.

Having an environment to develop and test atomic-accelerator was why we went to 9.3 on some systems.

9.5 seems to be just around the corner (Igor has promised an April release).

4psa already promoting versions of their tools for 9.5.

9.5 is kind of the equivalent of Windows 7 while 9.3 (and .2 and .1 and .0) were more like Vista, if you see what I mean? [Vista was a balls-up while Windows 7 is quite nice, on the Microsoft scale at least, though it has no real killer features that would make you run out and buy it].

So I have relatively high hopes for 9.5 and later.

But having said that, I think we will wait for 9.6 (W7 SP1, if you like), and even then we probably won't upgrade in-situe - we'll migrate to a fresh new server running Centos 5.

Faris.

faris: Like the analogy! Maybe even CentOS 6 might be on the table when 9.6 is released...

There may be some interesting features in Centos 6, but probably none that many of us will notice or use in the hosting arena (other than possibly virtualisation). What's important is that it will be supported for several years after active support for Centos 4 and even Centos 5 will have stopped, or at least gone into hibernation.

So for a newly commissioned server, if Centos/RedHat 6 is out and well road-tested by the time 9.6 comes out, I'll definitely be using it (assuming 9.6 supports it of course, and if not then I'll wait a bit longer).

Unlike Plesk, new versions of RedHat/Centos are usually something to look forward to, rather than look at with suspicion and horror.

Faris.

faris is oddly optimistic about Plesk. I predict 9.5.0 will have major issues and 9.5.1 will be the first stable. faris can be the first to install it :P

Considering that RHEL 6 is, at best, going to go into beta this month, I'd say C6 is a ways off.

No chance! No, I'll be waiting for 9.6, plus the odd hotfix. I just think that 9.5 is going to be a significant improvement over 9.3. They did the same with the 8.x series, though there was nothing much wrong with 8.4.

At least 8.x was a significant and useful step up from 7.x. I just don't get the point 9.x.

Faris.

They're already on 9.5.1:

[root@c5 asl]# rpm -q psa
psa-9.5.1-cos5.build95100414.15
